History & Mission
The Association for Learning and Mentoring Services, Inc.'s (ALMS) mission is to empower the youth of New York and their families to take responsibility for themselves and their communities through volunteer programs and services promoting positive social and civic values. ALMS, a 501(c)(3) organization, was formed in 2021 by five individuals who grew up in Rockland County, New York, and the surrounding area in Northern New Jersey. ALMS has established a solid foundation of programs through food pantries, meal delivery programs, senior events, and volunteer programs supporting hundreds of individuals and families across the New York City Metro area in just a few short years. ALMS initiatives support children, seniors, and those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). Currently, ALMS serves communities in New York City (west Harlem, Queens, and Staten Island) and Rockland County, as well as Essex, Hudson, and Bergen Counties in New Jersey. ALMS has grown from 75 volunteers to over 150 volunteers.
